About The Deal Centre

The Deal Centre is situated in the heart of Deal town centre. It is a meeting place for all people, aged over 50, both active and frail. A registered charity and incorporated limited company, the Centre has developed from monies raised by the local community. The Centre aims to be a one-stop shop offering services, activities, information and support to promote active ageing in an age-friendly environment. A well-being hub for older people, the Centre is at the centre of the Deal community. To see all the Centre has to offer you, come and visit us in Park Street Deal.

The Deal Centre is an autonomous organisation managed by a voluntary Board of Directors/Trustees and is currently partly funded from Social Services. The remainder is raised by fund-raising events, donations, legacies and charges for services. All internal charges are kept to a minimum.

The Deal Centre developed from an organisation, the Deal and District Old People Welfare Council, set up by local people in 1961. The main aim was to provide a venue in the town centre where people could come and meet for a few hours.

The garden and garden room pictured above provide pleasant and stimulating surroundings for service users.

The Deal Centre provides a range of services and activities for the local community. It also works closely with neighbouring groups and other voluntary organisations.
A small number of well-trained staff work alongside about 100 dedicated volunteers.

Many people come in to use the computers. There is always someone on hand if you need help.

The Deal Centre operates an open-door policy. There is no membership, people simply come in and use or book any of the available facilities. However, if you have more specialised needs, such as transport or bathing facilities, then visits may be limited according to the level of dependency and to the availability of space and of specialised carers.
The Deal Centre is a very friendly place where you can take part in the activities or simply have a cup of tea and a chat. Do drop in and see for yourself. You are sure of a warm welcome.

There are always friendly volunteers on hand to serve you or have a chat
